The Llano Fine Art Guild is a great gallery to visit any time of year, and in December, more than 30 member artists host their Artisan Christmas Bazaar for holiday shopping. You can stop by to browse the art work in their gallery from 10 am to 4:30 pm Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and 1:00 to 4:30 pm Sundays from November 30 until December 27. The gallery, at 503 Bessemer Avenue, is just half a mile from your luxury accommodations here at the Mustard Seed Bed and Breakfast on the Llano.
At the Artisan Christmas Bazzar, you’ll find gifts in all price ranges, with choices from serious art works to “fun kitschy items”. Some pieces highlight Texas Hill Country landscapes and Western art. About half the artists specialize primarily in painting or prints, but others work in mediums ranging from gourd carving to mesquite furniture. Other mediums include blown glass and stained glass, ceramics, leather, wood, and photography. The Guild website includes a page with a thumbnail image for each artist that links to more information about that individual, plus additional examples of art work. Art Guild members staff the gallery, so they can provide detailed information about all the regional artists represented in the Bazaar.
Although the Artisan Christmas Bazaar is seasonal, the gallery is open throughout the year. Another great time to visit Llano and get to know more about these artists is @LAST, an event the Art Guild hold on the LAST Saturday in March each year. On that date, a number of member artists invite the public to visit their studios, most of which are not regularly open during the year. This spring weekend is a great opportunity to watch demonstrations and visit with individual artists. The non-profit Art Guild also hosts an art studio space for classes and demonstrations.
Whether you’re planning a pre-Christmas getaway to the Hill Country, or thinking ahead to 2019, we look forward to hosting you at our Llano bed and breakfast. Just give us a call at (512) 696-7383 , or go online to reserve your stay, and be sure to include a stop at the Art Guild’s gallery in your travel plans!
