Celebrate Valentine’s in February with a romantic getaway to the Mustard Seed Bed and Breakfast on the Llano and enjoy Texas Hill Country Wineries “Wine Lovers Celebration” from February 8 – 24, 2019. Their Tasting Passport ($75 per couple) includes a full complimentary tasting (as determined by the wineries) at up to 4 wineries a day plus a 15% discount on 3 bottle purchases at each winery. A total of 45 wineries are participating in the event.
These wineries offer many different varietals and blends. White varietals may include Albarino, Muscat, Roussanne, Vermentino, and Viognier. Red varietals often include Dolcetto, Grenache, Malbec, Mourvedre, Sangiovese, Syrah, and Tempranillo. While some vineyards employ only estate grown fruit, others use exclusively Texas grapes. A few also include products from other regions such as California and Oregon.
The Texas Hill Country Wineries’ website includes a page for each winery that describes the vineyard, varietals, tours and amenities available, business hours, etc. Their website suggests a Marble Falls /Spicewood Day Trip that includes four participating wineries and an urban wine bar that can be visited on a 120 mile loop through the Hill Country from our B&B in Llano.
Spicewood Vineyards
Spicewood Vineyards in Spicewood is about a 45 minute drive from Llano. The winery offers 12 varieties of wine including Albarino, Merlot, Tempranillo, and a number of blends.

Stone House Vineyard
Stone House Vineyard is located the farthest away from Llano, on a bluff overlooking Lake Travis. In addition to their own vintages, they specialize in wines from California, Oregon, and Australia appellations. Two Hill Country wines include Claros 2017, and Scheming Beagle Port NV, both made from Stone House Norton grapes.

Flat Creek Enoteca Urban Wine Bar
Although not participating in the Passport, the Flat Creek Vineyards Urban Wine Bar features wines from their nearby vineyard and other small Texas producers. They offer a variety of “Wine Flights and Bites” pairing different trios of wines with artisanal cheeses, a lunch special Tuesdays – Fridays, and Sunday Brunch.

Perissos Vineyard and Winery
The Perissos Vineyard and Winery is located in the bucolic Hoover’s Valley. All the wine is made with Texas grown grapes, and the majority are grown on their own estate. Current estate grown wines include a 2016 Viognier, 2016 Estate Rosé, 2015 Aglianico, 2015 and 2016 Petite Sirah, 2015 Tempranillo, and Racker’s Blend that blends all eight of their estate grown red varietals.

Torr Na Lochs Vineyard & Winery
Torr Na Lochs Vineyard & Winery in Tow, overlooks both Buchanan and Inks Lakes. Some of their current Texas varietals include white wines Roussanne and Vermentino, and red wines Dolcetto, Sangiovese, andTempranillo, plus a number of blends.

In addition to this Marble Falls / Spicewood day trip, the Texas Hill Country Wineries website suggests a North Day Trip route to Oak Wedding Winery and Old Man Scary Cellars in San Saba, and Pillar Bluff Vineyards and Texas Legato Winery in Lampasas. This Day Trip to northern wineries also makes about a 120 mile loop from our bed and breakfast. Other day trips suggested on the website include Dripping Springs, Wimberly, and Johnson City; New Braunfels, Comfort, and Kerrville; Johnson City, Hye, and Stonewall; and Fredericksburg 290.
After a day of tasting wines and enjoying a drive through the Texas Hill Country, return to our Llano bed and breakfast where you can relax on your room’s patio or at the outdoor fire pit or hot tub nearby.
